Whimsical Kite

A 3rd year University piece, this multi-coloured kite was made to capture the essence of the word 'Whimsical'.

Each of the Illustrations were inspired by my experimentation and research into the word, and is complete with a nonsense verse which reads:

“Whimsy woo and the whimsy whig, I have eaten too many figs.”

It was digitally printed on silk in black & white and afterwards embellished with found objects, ribbons and later painted with watercolours and acrylics. The kite is 1m at its widest point, and was chosen to represent the ‘flightness’ and almost nonsense meaning of the word.
